In support of Surrey-based charity Guildford Action, raising money to support struggling individuals and families living in poverty; folk-pop songstress, and Academy of Contemporary Music alumna From Venus, today (December 9th) releases her live rendition of the synonymous Christmas carol ‘Silent Night’ as part of Big Mouth Guildford’s Big Christmas Appeal.

At a time of year where giving is the go-to action, help raise the invaluable funds that go towards helping those less fortunate get back on track by purchasing this special release. With all proceeds going to local charity Guildford Action, supporting the single ultimately means helping those less fortunate this Christmas.

Feeling especially charitable? Buying the single from music platform Bandcamp will allow the most ardent of supporters to purchase the track for the sum of their choice. Pay £1, £10, or even £10,000 – the choice, as they say, is yours.

Accompanied by a black and white video detailing Guildford’s landmarks and iconic High Street at Christmas, the video is Guildford Action’s contemporary re-telling of the Nativity.

Following former homeless couple Dan and Vicky who are seeking solace around Guildford, the couple are met by members of the public and business community as they get guidance and support, before eventually arriving at Guildford Action’s town centre headquarters.

The combination of From Venus’ take on ‘Silent Night’ together with the evocative film, will leave you with the inescapable need, to take stock and think of others this Christmas.

Film maker and Guildford Action’s Stuart Alexander says: “We want a Christmas number 1! People think that Guildford and Surrey is an affluent area, but there are still huge swathes of the community who find themselves falling on hard times. This is about raising awareness of our whole community, no matter who you are or where you’ve come from”

From Venus commented: “The work that Guildford Action undertake is a subject close to my heart.  I wanted to help raise money and this seemed like the best thing to do. I’m honoured and humbled to help in any way I can”

About Guildford Action

Guildford Action is an independent registered charity, which has been working within the local community for over 30 years helping individuals experiencing homelessness as well as isolated families. Their mission is simple; to ‘Enhance the lives of all those we come into contact with’ through looking after their emotional needs, as well as their physical safety.

Providing a safe, non-judgmental refuge for people who’ve fallen through the net, or out of everyday society, Guildford Action provide practical help with essentials like food, shelter, clean clothes and healthcare. They provide them; because when people have the basics, they can start to put the rest of their lives back together. And we’re also here for those who just need support to get through the day, and to remember what normal, respectful, positive relationships look like. Through physical and emotional support, we help people reconnect with society and themselves, rebuild their self-esteem and recover their identity and sense of belonging.
